How to wear colors

Whenever we want to go out, we open our closet and stare at our clothes for a while, then we try them on one by one and after a short while we have mountains of clothes in the middle of our room. This method is time consuming and we become frustrated because we were not able to find the right piece of clothing for the place we want to go.

If we understand colors more we can easily mix and match our clothes.

Before all the steps I recommend you to organize your closet to spend less time looking for your clothes.

The first color wheel was invented by Sir Isaac Newton. He refracts while light with a prism, resolving it into component colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet; then he joined the two ends of the color spectrum together to show the natural progression of colors.

We can use the color wheel to choose the right colors for our outfit. For this matter we need more information on the color wheel. Primary colors are: Red, yellow and blue. Each color has a complementary color of its own. Green is red’s complimentary color, purple is yellow’s and orange is for blue.

Everyone has different tastes but if you pay attention to colors you can figure out what colors works best for you.

In my experience the most powerful colors are very bright colors such as yellow, orange and purple. While wearing these colors make sure you pay attention to the visual aspect of each color to make a beautiful harmonized outfit.

First this you should consider while choosing the right color for you is your skin color. There are several skin types but we categorize them into light, medium and dark. Each skin tone has different bases, they’re either warm or cool.

For darker skins mustards, khakis and olives makes beautiful combinations with their skin tone. While choosing colors for your outfit remember neutrals are always chic and classy but never forget using a pop of color.

For lighter skins, pink, lilac, yellow, light green and baby blue would look really nice. Mix of light blue and pink for light skin tones and people with blonde hair works fantastically. If you want to use navy, turquoise or olive make sure to use some shiny accessories. Gold and silver will give your outfit and attractive look.

High waisted trousers or skirts in white, light orange and lemon will look good with dark crop tops. For cold weathers grey, pink, beige, dark brown, navy and burgundy sweaters are great options. And for warm weather days you could go for a mixture of light grey and light blue, olive and red, orange and navy or baby blue would look beautiful together.

In one of the articles I was reading about psychology or colors and it mentioned that the colors of your outfit not only effect your personal feelings but also it has an impact on communication with others and it can draw different behaviors.

In the color wheel we can separate colors in two groups. Warm colors include: Red, yellow, orange. Cool colors are blue, green and purple. There are some colors that are neutrals which are white, grey and black. You can combine neutral colors with any colors, they wont affect it as much as non-neutral colors.

Each color on its own represent something different. Down below I gathered these meanings so you can know what each color represent in psychology.

Red: Full of energy, makes your blood flow and heart beat faster. Red is warm and positive color and it’s related to out physical needs and our struggle to live.
