ABOUT FASHION REVOLUTION

Fashion Revolution is a global movement that runs all year long. Through a series of activations that include Fashion Revolution Week and Fashion Open Studio as well as social media, events, digital resources, videos, fanzines and reports, we aim to celebrate fashion as a positive influence while also scrutinising industry practices and raising awareness of the fashion industry’s most pressing issues. We aim to show that change is possible and encourage those who are on a journey to create a more ethical and sustainable future for fashion.

OUR VISION

Fashion Revolution Iran was founded in 2017 with the goal of promoting sustainability in Iranian fashion industry. We believe in a fashion industry that values people, the environment, creativity and profit in equal measure.

We want to unite people and organisations to work together towards radically changing the way our clothes are sourced, produced and consumed, so that our clothing is made in a safe, clean and fair way.

We believe that collaborating across the whole value chain — from farmer to consumer — is the only way to transform the industry.

Our mission is to bring everyone together to make that happen.

Fashion Revolution strives to be action-oriented and solution focused. Rather than making people feel guilty, we help them recognise that they have the power to do something to make a positive change.

FASHION REVOLUTION WEEK

Fashion Revolution Week is our #whomademyclothes campaign in April, which falls on the anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse, which killed 1138 people and injured many more on 24th April 2013. That is the day Fashion Revolution was born. During this week, brands and producers are encouraged to respond with the hashtag #imadeyourclothes and to demonstrate transparency in their supply chain.

FASHION OPEN STUDIO

Fashion open studio, Fashion Revolution’s showcasing initiative, launched in 2017, is a week of presentations, talks, openings and workshops shining a light on emerging designers, established trailblazers and major players, celebrating the people and processes behind fashion and accessories collections, promoting industry transparency and longevity through simple, authentic narratives that resonate with consumers and creatives alike.

Four creative designers will open their studio doors to you virtually for a week, inviting you to watch them design, create and sew, and practically join them in their studio!

Azadeh Yasaman

Azadeh Yasaman invites the viewers to observe the creation process of her fabrics. Her practice mainly revolves around designing and producing fabrics. She primarily focuses on these fabrics rather than the produced clothes as the final artistic product. Her brand is distinctively research-based. She, and a colleague, decided to revive the country-wide textile production network in Iran. In order to revamp these traditional fabrics, Azadeh Yasaman introduces a certain type of irregularity and distortion into their orderly structure and color pattern. This workshop introduces different types of weaving to the audience and displays documentaries and educational content about the history of different Looms.

Foje

“What I have is all I need. We are all each “nature incarnate”, manifested in a human body, trying to create and to move forward along the path of progress. Sometimes we get distracted, we give in to consumerism and go the wrong way, our creations become agents of destruction for nature instead of being salubrious to this beautiful house of ours. This, unfortunately, happens a lot in the fashion industry. So, now that due to the pandemic we are limited to our homes and what we have in them, and the earth is recovering, we have the opportunity to reflect and contemplate, clean up our minds, hearts and wardrobes, harmonize with the earth and with other species to somewhat rectify this damage” she says about this event.
