!Let’s go camping

Although you may appreciate the great outdoors, the thought of camping can be daunting to someone who isn’t an expert camper. If you sign up for an outdoor adventure, you have to be ready and willing to go with the flow, which for some of us girls means forgetting about our usual fashion and beauty routines. You may not necessarily consider yourself high maintenance, but let’s be honest, most of us girls enjoy a daily shower and looking put together. If you don’t want to feel like one of the guys, there are a few simple ways to maintain a sense of style while roughing it. Bringing along half your closet and all of your beauty supplies will make you look like a princess, which you want to avoid. Bringing along a few staple items that keep you fresh and polished can easily elevate your easy-going style and make you feel like a lady. This way, you can feel confident and maintain your sanity while you sleep in a tent for a couple nights.

Let Your Mane Down

As a woman, maintaining your hygiene is highly coveted. If you’re camping location doesn’t allow you to shower as often as you’d like, there are easy ways to improvise! Brushing your teeth is easy—bring your toothbrush, toothpaste, and water bottles for rinsing and you’re set! Washing your hair on the other hand?  Not so easy. Don’t give up and wear it in a greasy bun for the entirety of your trip, use dry shampoo! If your hair is clean the first day on the camp site, dry shampoo can buy you another day or two of wearing your hair down or at the very least reduce unwanted shine, depending on how naturally oily it is. All you have to do is spray it on the roots of your hair and the brush it through. Easy peasy! Having well-coifed hair will immediately make you feel stylish and put together.

Functional Fashion

When it comes to women, sometimes choosing the right outfit is a bit of a battle. In order to win this battle we bring everything we own, even if we’re only leaving home for the weekend. Rather than breaking your back, or your boyfriend’s back I should say, pack light and savvy. I like sticking to dark colored flannels and quarter sleeve cotton shirts when I camp for two reasons. One: dark colors won’t show dirt as much so you won’t look like a mess, and two: long or quarter sleeves will protect more of your skin from sunlight and bugs. If you get a little warm, you can always roll them up! Nowadays, designers are coming up with cute flannel shirts that truly accentuate a woman’s body but give you the cool and casual look you strive for when camping. Plus, flannels pair well with your favorite pair of dark jeans or yoga pants! They are the perfect combination of style and comfort and what lady doesn’t want that?!

Keep It Simple

Now, when it comes to jewelry, women can always find an excuse or occasion to put their best bling on. You don’t want to bring your entire jewelry box camping because that’s way too excessive and chances are you’ll annoy someone you’re camping with for being such a princess. My go-to accessory that is appropriate no matter what, are my stud earrings! Why? Well, stud earrings are small and not flashy in any way, but they do add a little bit of panache to any look.

The best part about this earring style is that they are light, comfortable, and not in your face. You can enjoy all the outdoor activities you want without being weighed down or having some piece of jewelry get caught in your hair or clothing.

Roughing it doesn’t have to be entirely bad, as long as you prepare! Camping is a great way to get away from the stresses of life and get down to the nitty-gritty! Sometimes it is best to leave it all behind and enjoy the simple life, but if you can’t live without a little style in your life, follow my tips and you’ll survive.
